Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 26 – Distance
This photograph was taken from the observation platform of the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. The pink road you see trailing off into the distance is an old motorway that has been resurfaced and re-purposed as a bike path/walkway in and out of the center of the city. The pink color was used to highlight in pictures to other cities around the world that you can safely allow bicycle traffic into and out of a major city.
The outskirts of Auckland extend for quite a distance. Imagine the decrease in auto traffic in the city for those willing to commute on their bikes.
A great aerial shot, Charles. I love what they have done with that pink road. It’s a great idea and I hope other cities around the world pick up on it.
Welcome to my photo challenge. Thank you for participating.
