Thursday Doors – July 14, 2016

These are the world’s largest doors. They have not been installed yet. They range from 1,900 tons to 4,300 tons in weight and are 58.7 meters wide x 10 meters thick x 34.7 meters high. If you haven’t guessed already, these are four of the sixteen new lock doors that will soon be installed in the expanded Panama Canal.

The new canal will be large enough to pass one the new aircraft carriers built by the USA.
