We have reached the first Thursday in September. Kids in the neighborhood are now back to school and we are having a few more hot summer days before autumn takes hold. For today’s post, I took some photos of the local town hall which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Here are several photos from various angles around the building, including the false front door (with a sign to use the side door).
Let’s start with a picture of the whole building from the front:
Next we have a close up of just the first floor from the front:
If you look on the right door frame, you will see a blue oval plaque. Here it is up close:
Now let’s explore the side of the building where you enter town all. Notice the bulletin board to the right of the door with all local announcements:
Here is a close up of the door:
Finally, we will end with another shot of the front that is almost head on:
If you expand the photo, you can read the sign on the front door which says “PLEASE USE OTHER ENTRANCE”. Just above that sign, you can see in the bottom window pane in the door an object that looks like a bird house sitting on a desk backed up to that door.
The town had quite a problem a few years ago when bricks started falling off of the sides of the building. Repairs had to be completed so that nobody got accidentally injured.

That decorative brickwork makes for a very nice look. Hopefully since the repairs all of those bricks stay where they’re supposed to 🙂

That’s an amazing building. I’ve never seen brickwork like it before. Love the detail around the top of the building.

In North Carolina we have clay soil and lots of bricks. This is very typical.
