Timing was critical on this photo. I wanted the prow of the Carib Princess to line up with the prow of the Nieuw Amsterdam. The shutter was just a hair early, but I think the shot is even better than I hoped, because the black background from the Holland America Line ship makes a crisp border for the tender boat crossing in front:
I also like the splash of color from the buoy and the bulbous bow just peeking out above the surface of the water by the anchor chain.
