Please Read in Silence

This poem was inspired in response to the poem Inking Agony by The Darkest Fairytale.

Please Read in Silence

My words turn to acid,
When you read them out loud.
Your ears will turn flaccid,
Your spirit will be cowed.

So please read in silence,
Your heart not to burn.
Your brain must absorb them,
Or your stomach will churn.

I’ve poured all my hatred
Into words on the page,
To rid my poor body
Of its shameful rage.

So please don’t consume
Any poems that I write.
Just read them in silence,
Then turn out the light.
